Scrums and and Strategy - Meet Leo!
This September, Leo begins his university journey at Manchester Metropolitan, studying Business and Marketing.
We’ve been lucky to have him on the TankSafe® team this summer, where his fresh ideas and energy have made a real impact.
A rising talent with a bright future ahead!
What does your role at TankSafe® involve?
In my role at Tanksafe® I am responsible for updating, maintaining and ensuring that the company’s customer databases remain relevant and valuable for use in our marketing campaigns.
By achieving this, I help the team to target the correct audiences and improve engagement.
I also collaborate with the marketing team to identify gaps in their approaches, suggest solutions and aim to provide a younger, more external perspective opinion on content and image of the company.
Ultimately, my role at Tanksafe® ensures that our marketing activities are supported by reliable insights, which help to increase and improve customer relationships, overall supporting business growth.
What’s your background?
My background brings together sport, education, and work experience. I studied at AKS Sixth Form, where I achieved A-Level Business, A-Level Psychology, and a BTEC in Sport.
While there, I was proud to receive the Exemplary Sportsmanship Award, which reflected the commitment and attitude I’ve always tried to bring both on and off the field.
Alongside my studies, I played rugby as a hooker for Fylde RFC Senior Colts, captaining the side as well representing Lancashire U18s.
Rugby has given me valuable lessons in leadership, teamwork, and resilience.
I also worked as a hospitality supervisor at Fylde Rugby Club, which gave me practical experience in managing events, supporting a team, and delivering great customer service under pressure.
This has taught me valuable experience and has developed the skills needed to work in a high-pressure environment
Altogether, my background is built on a mix of sport, leadership, and business skills, all underpinned by strong people skills and a focus on continuous growth.
What has been your biggest professional achievement so far?
One of my biggest achievements so far was scoring a hat-trick of tries in the Lancashire Cup Final 2025 against Stonyhurst College.
Not only was it a proud personal moment, but it was also about contributing and driving my team from the front on one of the biggest stages we had, with an attendance estimated at 1,200 people.
Rugby has always been a big part of my life, and that match showed me the value of hard work, preparation, and performing when it matters most.
Away from the pitch, I’m proud of developing myself through education - from completing A-Levels and a BTEC at AKS Sixth Form, which allowed me to progress to higher education, where I will be attending Manchester Metropolitan University to study business and marketing.
This will allow me to make new connections and allow me to progress into a career.
What do you enjoy doing away from work?
Away from work I enjoy socialising, by training with friends and attending music events.
I also enjoy going to the Lake District and going wake surfing with my family during the summer months, as well as travelling the world and exploring new cultures.
If you could meet any three famous people in the world, alive or deceased, to have a chat with, who would they be?
Robin Williams, for his sense of humour.
Nelson Mandela, to learn about resilience, leadership and uniting people.
Warren Buffet, to get experience and understanding long term business vision and decision-making.
