Truckin’ Snapshot: The beginnings of IVECO
IVECO, an acronym for “Industrial Vehicles Corporation” formed in 1975 following a merger of five companies:
Fiat Veicoli Industriali (Turin, Italy);
OM (Brescia, Italy);
Lancia Veicoli Speciali (Italy);
Unic (France);
Magirus-Deutz (Germany)
From 1975 to 1979, the IVECO range included 200 basic models and 600 versions, from 2.7 tonne light vehicles to 40 tonne heavy vehicles, as well as buses and engines.

In 1978, IVECO launched its first “Daily” vehicle, which is still manufactured today.
IVECO’s “Turbo Star” heavy truck launched in 1984, and became hugely successful through Europe, selling over 50,000 in seven years.
To date, IVECO has production plants in Europe, China, Russia, Australia, and Latin America. Iy has sales and service outlets in over 160 countries, and a turnover of approximately €11 billion.
